The JNRC is always in need of volunteers: residents in Rome come
and offer a couple of hours weekly to teaching, or simply coming
to spend time with the refugees, helping to serve tea. In the past
individuals and groups of young people from the States have come
to help out on special summer projects: cleaning, repainting, reorganizing;
and others come as part of their social awareness programs. If you
would like to participate in any way, please contact the Rector.
The programs of the JNRC are entirely dependant on outside donations.
All overheads are paid for by St. Paul's through the Church budget,
so you can be sure that any donations you give will go to where
they are most needed: to feeding the hungry, giving aid to the sick,
warmth to those who are cold; to providing learning materials for
those who want education.
Special Appeals
In 2008 we launched a special appeal for Farsi-Italian dictionaries to distribute to refugees, thus offering them a first step towards independence in Italy. The appeal was hugely successful, and we wouldlike to thank all those who participated.
We are now launching a new appeal asking for donations towards the breakfast fund. There are very few places in Rome offering breakfast to refugees, and it is particularly important during the colder months as many of the refugees sleep on the streets.
Ways to Donate
- We accept men's clothing, shoes (clean and in good condition) as well as toiletries, blankets, and (new) socks & underwear; other items (such as household goods and books, which will be sold and the proceeds given to JNRC) can be brought to the church on Sundays or during office hours, or at other times by appointment. Please call +39 064883339 for details;
- Cash gifts can be brought to the Rector or a member of Staff;
- US checks should be made out 'St Paul's Church',
marked 'JNRC' in the memo line and sent to:
St Paul's Within the Walls,
Via Napoli 58,
00184 Roma,
Italy
- All other checks should be made out to 'Chiesa Americana S. Paolo' and sent with a cover letter to the address above.
All donations are welcome, and all donations are tax
free in the United States.
Please let us know if you require a receipt for tax purposes.
