St.
Paul's Within the Walls is a member of the European Convocation
of American Episcopal Churches of the Anglican
Communion. There are 130 Anglican Parishes in Europe and the Mediterranean,
offering the Church's services in English, wherever you go. The Convocation
is one of four Anglican jurisdictions in Europe, the other three being
the Diocese
in Europe, the Spanish Reformed Church, and the Lusitanian
Church of Portugal.
The Anglican Communion is an authentic branch of the One Holy Catholic
Church. Its doctrine is that of the Church of the Apostles and of
the early centuries of Christianity. Believing in the guidance of
the Holy Spirit, Anglicanism has not remained static, but has always
tried to follow God's will in every great movement in the history
of Christianity.
The Anglican Communion believes that the Holy Scripture contains
all things necessary for salvation. It maintains the two creeds:
the Apostle's and the Nicene.
Anglicanism accepts the decrees of the Orthodox and Ecumenical
Councils of the primitive church, and celebrates the two great Sacraments
of Baptism and Holy Eucharist. It maintains the Apostolic Orders
of Bishop, priest and Deacon.
Anglicanism is not simply a national church. It is found in almost
every country of the world. It works and prays for the unity of
Christendom in accord with the prayer of our Lord: "that
they may all be one" (St. John)
