HAVE YOU EVER HEARD SILENCE?
“Silence is God’s first language,” wrote the 16th-century mystic John of the Cross.
What might God say to us in silence?
Come and join with others who want to experience the power of silence in a new way.
We use a contemplative worship model from the Taizé community in France. This brotherhood of Protestants and Catholics, founded in 1940, uses a model of simple songs, scripture and silence to draw near to God.
The aim of the community and their services is to heal divisions between Christians, with the resulting reconciliation leading to the promotion of peace in the world. Their services draw around 100,000 people, especially youth, from around the world each year.
The Rev. Brian Kirby has visited Taizé many times and is now doing doctoral research on their worship. Brian is assisting St. Paul’s Within the Walls in developing this new gathering as a ministry to our congregation. Join us as we learn to “Be still and know that He is God” (Psalm 46:10).
